The Great Flame Wars: Mac vs. PC for 3D Artists

Hi, FEG. I wonder because I have lots os trouble using versions newer then , since I can not make viewports to show objects in Shading. Also, I get a lot of selection issues selecting the object that's in front of another is hard, I keep getting the one in the back. I've had acceptable results running previous versions of Max if not mistaken on previous generation Mac Book Pros too.

Maybe you can try allocate more memory to your Windows in Parallels settings. From my experience, 3Ds Max is running with no huge issues on my Windows 10 virtualisation. This has to do with the customization that can be built into Linux.

So, while that customization can ultimately save a lot of time, it can also mean that a lot of learning is required. We see Linux as a great option for those who do love customization and like to deal with complicated coding now and then. You always have the option of dual-booting Linux and Windows and there are plenty of tutorials online to help you do this.

Most people will be using it now or have used it before previously. The reason why us 3D artists may favour it is that just about every tool you could wish for is available of Windows including 3ds Max. So which operating system is best for you?

AutoCAD for Windows: An Overview

There is no one size fits all when it comes to operating systems so you need to find one that will help you be as efficient as you can be for your 3D projects. So, it is best to focus on what is best for you and not what you want or think that looks good. I know it is a better machine and last longer, but if it doesn't meet the need of the major software ie 3ds max, then why bother with mac I went to the Autodesk site and they give only a choice of a few laptop, which is not a mac. I would prefer the 17' pc or 15" mac I also have to get it at Best Buy, as I have a gift card to pay for part of the laptop.

But the question is I want a laptop that will meet my needs.

So did you get the mac to work successfully. So what is my best bet!!!!!!!

I can say you will not regret buying one. All of your Windows software will work with Boot Camp.

Go Mac or Go PC ?? for 3D Modeling/Animation and a little bit of gaming

Boot Camp allows you to install Windows on a portion of your hard drive. It is a full, real copy of Windows, and you can run anything on it as long as the hardware meets the requirements. That way, you can run Windows programs in the Mac OS; you won't have to install a full copy of Windows. Vista has been known to run really well on a MacBook Pro.

The Verdict: Is version 15 worth the upgrade?

There was something about it being one of the best computers to run Vista The MacBook lines are expected to be updated around September. I'd wait if I were you. I had the same concerns when I bought my macbook pro but thankfully Apple allows you to run windows via Bootcamp. Discussion is locked.
